BEST PLACES TO WORK

Congratulations Brandon Johnson,

Associated Wholesale Grocer’s

Store Manager of the Year

Store Director Brandon Johnson originally

managed our Mid City store on Carrollton

my store from my house. I’m so proud to

Hey

Good Lookin’

Whatcha Got

Cookin’

Hey Good Lookin’ Whatcha Got Cookin’?

The late, great HankWilliams, from Butler County, Alabama, recorded 35 Top 10 Singles, including

the song Hey Good Lookin’ that was released in 1951.

Say hey, good lookin’ — whatcha got cookin’,

How’s about cookin’ somethin’ up with me?

Hey, sweet baby — don’t you think maybe,

We can find us a brand new recipe?

My husband, brother and I attended this

evening’s demonstration by Chef Nino (he

cooked pastalaya). I dragged my reluctant

husband along hoping that he would be

inspired to cook for me. Well, he had such

a great time! Chef Nino is a hoot — very

entertaining but extremely informative and

instructive at the same time. He makes it all

so much fun. I have attended many cooking

demos (and been a prep cook in London)

and I can say that Chef Nino keeps the

demo lively with humor, tips and personal

stories. “Kudos” to Rouses (Gulf Shores)

for sponsoring these demonstrations. It has

impressed me, a New England snowbird,

and taught me that Cajun cooking is not

spicy but extremely flavorful. I have already

replicated the Gumbo and the Crawfish

étouffée recipes from previous demos — and

the Pastalaya will be another recipe I will

take home to New Hampshire.

As a Wisconsin SnowBird in Orange Beach,

Alabama, I am thoroughly enjoying Rouses

new store this year. I love Southern Cuisine

and the ambiance of the South especially the

New Orleans area, which we have been to

several times. This year not only do I have

the new store to thoroughly enjoy, but I

am attending Chef Nino’s cooking classes

every Friday (even

though I have to get

there 30-45 minutes

early to get a seat.)

Chef Nino’s past

experiences, culinary

knowledge, Acadian

heritage and his

having lived in Italy/

Sicily for 13 years all add immensely to his

culinary presentations. Rouses couldn’t be

nicer with their true Southern hospitality!

The store itself is well stockedwith everything

from their fresh produce, homemade meats,

fabulous spice aisle, and great deli, to just

name a few. Thank you for coming to Gulf

Shores Rouses!!!

—M. Marrier

I am a cookbook author and do a tremen-

dous amount of business with grocery stores,

but today, I called the Spanish Fort, AL,

store and not only found what I could not

find anywhere else in Daphne, but the cus-

tomer service was

outstanding. Linda

McElhaney

and

Candice Burt were

the employees that

helped. They found

the product, read the

label over the phone

and welcomed me

Rouses Chef Nino

“The best chefs, cooks and cookbook

authors shop at Rouses! We just celebrated

our first anniversary in Alabama. Thank

you for shopping Gulf Coast local and

making us feel so welcome!”
