Christine Jeanine Nielsen manages the bar
and cocktail program at the Lucky Rooster, an
Asian fusion restaurant in the Central Business
District. Originally from Ohio and raised
in Atlanta, Christine Jeanine is a seasoned
veteran on the New Orleans bar scene, from
storied dives (The Dungeon, Molly’s at the
Market) to pioneering cocktail bars (Loa
Lounge and Bar Tonique in their early days)
to the tony Windsor Court Hotel.

I like to keep things simple. A
lot of the classics are 3-ingredient drinks, and that keeps
things from getting too complicated during service. We
do a lot of production behind the scenes (making syrups,
infusions, other stuff) before you have guests right in front
of you.

we just put
our Strawberry/Thai Basil soda back on the menu. It's
pretty easy to modify our house-made sodas with booze,
and that strawberry goes really well with rye whiskey in it.
